Enter the first day of your last period and your average cycle length to estimate your most probable conception days, ovulation and intercourse windows, next period, a reasonable pregnancy-test date, and the due date if you conceived this cycle. Leave the last-period date blank to use today.
Formula
The luteal phase is treated as 14 days, so every date is derived from the last period start D and cycle length C:
nextPeriod = D + C
ovulation = nextPeriod − 14
ovulationWindow = ovulation − 2 … ovulation + 2
conceptionWindow = ovulation − 2 … ovulation + 3
intercourseWindow = ovulation − 5 … ovulation + 2
pregnancyTest = nextPeriod − 5
dueDate = ovulation + 266 (= D + C + 252)
The six-cycle table repeats the same arithmetic for period starts D + i×C
with i from 0 through 5.
These dates are estimates for planning conception, not a form of birth control. Irregular cycles, illness, and stress can all move ovulation.
Typical fertile days on a 28-day cycle
| Event | Cycle day | Relative to ovulation |
|---|---|---|
| Intercourse window opens | Day 10 | 5 days before |
| Conception / ovulation windows open | Day 13 | 2 days before |
| Most probable ovulation | Day 15 | — |
| Ovulation / intercourse windows close | Day 17 | 2 days after |
| Conception window closes | Day 18 | 3 days after |
| Pregnancy test | Day 24 | 9 days after |
Examples
Last period on September 8, 2026 (28-day cycle)
Next period = September 8 + 28 = October 6. Ovulation = October 6 − 14 = September 22, 2026. Most probable conception days are September 20–25, the ovulation window is September 20–24, the intercourse window is September 17–24, a pregnancy test is reasonable on October 1, and the due date if pregnant is June 15, 2027.
Same last period with a 22-day cycle
A shorter cycle moves conception earlier: next period is September 30, so ovulation is September 16. Most probable conception days are September 14–19, and the due date is June 9, 2027.
